ELMHURST, IL – Two Elmhurst alderwomen are seeking improvements for an intersection in their ward.

In a memo Wednesday, Ward 1 alderwomen Marti Deuter and Jennifer Veremis asked for a city committee to review Maple and North avenues.

They said they were informed in November of two serious crashes that occurred the same day at the intersection.

"At our request, staff reviewed the intersection's traffic crash history and identified some possible changes to improve safety at the intersection," the alderwomen said.

On Monday, the City Council is set to vote on sending the matter to a committee.

It will be the last meeting for Deuter, who joined the council a dozen years ago. In November's election, the Democrat defeated Republican Dennis Reboletti in the race for the Elmhurst-based District 45 state representative seat.

The meeting agenda indicates that officials plan to recognize her service.
