2 Sets of Teens Caught 'Rooftopping' in Elmhurst Over Weekend: Police
Police were busy with some unusual calls this weekend.
Two separate incidents of underage teens trespassing and climbing roofs were recorded in the past several days, Elmhurst police reported.
In the first, two juveniles were found running on top of the roof of Red Dragon Restaurant at 117 W. 1st St. around 9 p.m. last Friday, according to reports. Both tried to flee the scene but were caught by police and taken into custody.
Both offenders, whose gender and ages weren’t released, were charged with disorderly conduct and released to their parents.

Two days later, on Jan. 22, police were called to the United Methodist Church on South Swain Avenue because witnesses had seen children on the roof of the building.
Police ordered them down, according to reports, which is when the offenders told cops “some of their friends had been on the roof in the past and they wanted to try it.” They apologized for climbing the building and were released around 1 p.m. with no citations.
