WHEATON, IL — David Prefountain, 50 (d.o.b. 7/29/1966) appeared in Court this morning where he entered a plea of guilty to one count of Possession of Child Pornography, a Class 1 Felony. Upon accepting his plea, Judge Brian Telander imposed the ten year sentence.

In September, 2015, the Addison Police Department received information regarding the possibility of Internet child pornography activity in Addison. An investigation led officers to Prefountain. After obtaining a search warrant for Prefountain’s residence, officers found a kindle tablet containing multiple images of child pornography. On September 16, 2015 Prefountain was taken into custody without incident. He has remained in the DuPage County Jail since that time being held on $750,000 bond.

“Child pornography continues to claim hundreds of thousands of innocent victims year after year,” Berlin said. “And the sick individuals who deal this filth use technology to produce, access, share and collect these revolting images. Technology however, can work both ways and thanks to the cooperative efforts of law enforcement and their technical savvy, the sick individuals who engage in this type of behavior will be caught and brought to justice. I would like to thank the Addison Police Department for their ongoing efforts in protecting our children from child pornographers as well as Assistant State’s Attorney Bethany Jackson for her work in ensuring that Mr. Prefountain pay a significant price for what he has done.”

Prefountain will be required to serve 50% of his sentence before being eligible for parole. In addition to his prison sentence, he was also ordered to pay $2,032 in fines and court costs.
