Man Pulls Knife At Elmhurst Restaurant, Accused Of Aggravated Assault: Police
In another case, a man was arrested after stealing a wallet at a local fitness center, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving burglary, aggravated assault, domestic battery, a threatening person, theft, a drunk woman, a disturbance and a missing man. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Aggravated assault
- A 40-year-old Bensenville man was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Saturday on charges of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct. Police said the man pulled a knife on someone during an argument at Portillo's restaurant, 155 S. Route 83. The man was released.
Burglary

- Zakaria Mohamed, 24, of Columbus, Ohio, was arrested about 9 p.m. Thursday on charges of burglary and identity theft. Police said Mohamed stole a man's car key and wallet from an unlocked locker at LA Fitness, 620 N. York St. Mohamed is then accused of making fraudulent purchases with the victim's credit cards. Mohamed was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Domestic battery
- A 24-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 400 block of West St. Charles Road was arrested about 8:30 p.m. Thursday at his home on four counts of domestic battery. Police said the man battered a woman. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Threatening

- Police said a man became threatening Friday at Sandburg Middle School, 345 E. St. Charles Road. No disorderly conduct was found to have occurred.
Theft
- A man who was let go from Base Solutions, 779 Church Road, failed to return a work-issued laptop and phone. The business reported the theft Friday.
Drunk woman
- Police responded to a call about a drunk woman about 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of North Addison Avenue. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
Disturbance
- A man told police that he argued with his brother about their father's condition about 5:30 a.m. Sunday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. The brother left before the police arrived. An investigation is pending.
Missing man
- A missing man who lives in the 600 block of West Thomas Street was found by St. Charles police officers about 6 p.m. Sunday. The man was reunited with his family.
Retail theft
- A 30-year-old Oak Park man was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Thursday on charges of retail theft and obstructing officers. Police said the incident occurred at Jewel, 944 S. York St. The man, who gave officers a false name initially, was released.
- A 54-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 12:30 p.m. Friday at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St., on a retail theft charge. Police said the man stole alcohol. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- A 31-year-old Lisle man was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Friday at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St., on a retail theft charge. He was released.
- Robert E. Barnes, 57, of Chicago, was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Friday on charges of burglary, retail theft (two counts) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said Barnes` stole alcohol at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- William Christian Jr., 52, of River Forest, was arrested about 5 p.m. Friday on charges of burglary and retail theft. Police said the incident occurred at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. The man was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
- A person stole cosmetics about 6:30 p.m. Friday at Walgreens, 160 N. Robert Palmer Drive. An investigation is pending.
DUI
- A 43-year-old Hillside man was arrested about 1 a.m. Saturday at St. Charles Road and Poplar Avenue on charges of DUI, improper lighting, driving with expired lights, improper lane usage and improper turn at an intersection. He was taken to the police station and then released.
- A 31-year-old Addison woman was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of West Lake Street on charges of DUI, driving with a suspended registration, improper lane usage, driving too fast for conditions and driving without insurance. She was taken to the police station and then released.
