Art History Professor, Author to Present 'Abstraction, Art and Transgender Capacity'
David J. Getsy will give this year's William R. Johnson Intercultural Lecture on Oct. 21.

David J. Getsy is the Goldabelle McComb Finn Distinguished Professor of Art History at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
An authority on the history of sculpture, he focuses on transgender studies, queer studies and performance studies to examine art’s histories of the human form and its alternatives.

His newest book, Abstract Bodies: Sixties Sculpture in the Expanded Field of Gender, offers the first book-length application of transgender studies to art history.
Getsy will present Abstraction, Art and Transgender Capacity, this year’s William R. Johnson Intercultural Lecture, on Wednesday, October 21, at Elmhurst College.

Professor Getsy’s talk will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, in the Founders Lounge of the Frick Center (190 Prospect Ave., Elmhurst,www.elmhurst.edu/campusmap). Admission is $10 for the general public and free for Elmhurst College students, faculty, staff and alumni.
