Bensenville Official May Be Ousted

The village manager was placed on leave a week ago, the village's spokesman said.

BENSENVILLE, IL – The Bensenville Village Board on Tuesday may oust its village manager, who took the helm eight years ago.

The board is set to vote on a severance deal with Village Manager Evan Summers at a special meeting. Trustees are expected to appoint Police Chief Dan Schulze to serve as the interim manager.

Summers was placed on leave last week, village spokesman Anthony Sumner said in a brief interview Tuesday afternoon. He said he could not provide any other information.

It was unclear when exactly Summers was put on leave.

Near the end of a Village Board meeting a week ago, Summers reported that the board's incumbents were unopposed in the April 1 election.

"We look forward to another four years with you, so congratulations to the mayor, the clerk and the three trustees," Summers said. "I think it's evidence that the voters think the village is on the right track and in good hands."

Village officials could not be reached for immediate comment.

Before coming to Bensenville, Summers was the assistant city administrator in Berwyn for four years.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree in public administration from Indiana University in 2007 and a master's degree in business administration from Purdue in 2011, according to his LinkedIn page.

The board's meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bensenville Village Hall, 12 S. Center St.
