BMW Narrowly Escapes Two Oncoming Trains Tuesday Night

The female driver has been charged with DUI, police said.

A Westmont resident is facing drunken driving charges after a near miss on the Metra tracks Tuesday night, police said.

Julia Dudeck, 29, of 72 W. 59th St., reportedly drove her BMW 530 off the roadway and got stuck on the railroad tracks at West Park and South Prospect avenues the night of July 2, according to information provided by Elmhurst Police Chief Michael Ruth. Two oncoming trains, one from each direction, were able to stop before striking the BMW.

Dudeck was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. She was released on bond.
