Coyote Bites Dog In Elmhurst Park: Police
In another case, a trio scammed a man outside a local store, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a coyote biting a dog, fraud, an eviction dispute, a gun issue, scams, harassment and a found bike. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Coyote bite
- A man told police that a coyote bit his dog about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday while walking in Wild Meadows Trace Park, 511 S. York St. A veterinarian treated the dog, which was reported in good condition.

- Two men and a woman, all of whom appeared to be in their 20s, approached a man about 8 p.m. Monday at Mariano's, 678 N. York St., about making donations to a nonprofit group. They tried to download a debit card chip reader to the victim's phone. The suspects were gone when police arrived. The victim froze his accounts.
Eviction dispute
- After an eviction order, a landlord found the stove, refrigerator and bathroom mirror had been removed from a unit at Elmhurst Terrace Apartments in the 100 block of Fellows Court. The removal was reported Monday. An officer contacted the suspect, who said her lawyer would handle the matter in civil court.

- A resident in the 900 block of South Euclid Avenue told police Monday that a gun was missing from his bedroom. It was entered into a database as stolen. The resident searched his house again and found it.
Scam
- A woman at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave., told police that a stranger posing as a photography company withdrew money from her bank account about 9 a.m. Tuesday.
- A stranger claiming to be with Publisher's Clearinghouse convinced a resident in the 800 block of North Emroy Avenue to send wire transfers and gift cards to release a prize. The resident has since contacted her bank and flagged her credit. The report was filed Monday.
Harassment
- A person was harassing workers about 4 p.m. Tuesday at Dunkin' Donuts, 195 E. Butterfield Road. The person was served with a no-trespass notice.
- A resident in the 400 block of North Elm Avenue told police Monday about receiving harassing text messages from a suspect after a dispute over a payment. An investigation is pending.
Fugitive driver
- Shortly before midnight Monday at St. Charles Road and Interstate 290, an officer tried to stop the driver of a black Hyundai Tucson that had been reported stolen. The driver sped away.
Disturbance
- Police responded to a disturbance about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 600 block of North Willow Road. A suspect was served a no-trespass notice for a house.
Soliciting without a permit
- A 20-year-old Paxton, Massachusetts, man was cited about 11 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of North Addison Avenue on a charge of soliciting without a permit.
Bike found
- A blue Trek bicycle was found about 10 a.m. Monday in the 200 block of Sunnyside Avenue. Police identified the bicycle's owner, but could not reach the person. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping.
