Cubs Fan's Fundraiser Aims to Send Steve Bartman to Wild-Card Game
But would Steve Bartman even go?
An alleged Cubs fan has started an online fundraiser to send Steve Bartman to the Cubs’ wild-card game, and much like every other website in existence, the greatest thing about this gofundme is the comments section.
Among the spectrum of boisterous opinions are forgiving Cubs fans, unforgiving Cubs fans, opportunistic non-Cubs fans and humanitarians who just want Bartman to find peace.

Some of the highlights include:
- “This person is an idiot and should be banned from Wrigley for life. No, not Steve Bartman. The idiot who set up this GoFundMe page! Please just let it die already and let’s move on with our lives.” - Doug Engel.
- “Moises Alou should pay this entire thing.” - Joel Neely
- “This is a horrible idea at the best and an unethical cash grab at the worst. Steve Bartman would never go to this game. He has avoided the public eye for over a decade and will continue to do so.” - Steven Wade.
- “Can I donate negative dollars?” - John Hegener
The person who started the gofundme page, Keque Escobedo, doesn’t seem to have any personal connection to Bartman, who has shied away from publicity since that ill-fated foul ball in 2003. The first order of business for this fundraiser is to find Bartman

Lifelong Cubs fan wants to make amends for 2003, lets make it happen. First we need to find him to get him to the big game. If anyone knows where he is at, tell him we are looking for him. The money would pay for his expenses including his ticket, hotel room, flights and a little spending money.
If he cannot be found by time of the big game all the proceeds raised will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
The page has collected more than $1,800 of its $5,000 goal in three days, through more than 150 donations.
