Dumping Clash In Elmhurst Neighborhood: Cops

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving illegal dumping, fighting, a dog attack, shoplifting, damage and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Illegal dumping

  • A resident in the 600 block of West Fay Avenue told police she believed a man was illegally dumping in the wooded area near her house about 9:30 a.m. Saturday. She took photos of the man. He confronted her, making threatening remarks. The woman requested that the man be issued a no-trespass notice. Police served him with one.

Fighting

  • Police responded to First Street and Addison Avenue shortly after midnight Saturday about a report of a woman and a man fighting. The pair said they were arguing. They agreed to separate for the rest of the night.

Dog attack

  • A dog got off its leash and attacked a woman's dog about 7 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of South Cedar Avenue. The woman's dog then bit the other one.

Shoplifting

  • A person confronted three shoplifting suspects about 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Jewel, 944 S. York St. The suspects dropped the merchandise and fled in a car. Officers were unable to find the trio.

Damage

  • A rock was thrown through the back window of Wilson Montessori Academy, 136 W. Vallette St. An officer saw the damaged window and a rock on the window ledge. The damage was reported Friday, but could have occurred at some point in the three previous weeks.
  • A resident in the 400 block of East Fullerton Avenue told police that his car door handle was pried off between 4 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Sunday. The car was locked. No one entered it.

Bike found

  • A white Mongoose mountain bicycle was found Friday in the 100 block of North Larch Avenue. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Fugitive driver

  • About 4 a.m. Sunday at Interstate 290 and Route 83, an officer tried to stop a car that was reported to have been stolen in Chicago. The driver sped away.
