Elmhurst Airborne Sixth-grade Boys 'A' Team Wins League Championship
Sixth-grade boys' successful season will be remembered as a lot of hard work—and a lot of fun.
Elmhurst Airborne sixth-grade A Team coaches John Kosich, Dave Cohn and Dave Flando have spent months developing this group of boys. And, it's paid off.
The A Team won the DuPage Youth League Championship March 2 and 3 in Wheaton.
Most of the boys have played together for a couple of years, and some were new from the Elmhurst YMCA program last year. The hard work, dedication and practices paid off for all.

The boys went 15 and 1 in the Elite Division during the regular season; the next closest competitor went 10 and 6. Their one loss in regular league play was in their fifth game in one weekend, and it was close. They lost by only 3 points.
In the DuPage Youth Travel Basketball League Finals, they went 3 and 0. Saturday was a win over the Bartlett Hawks. Sunday's games allowed them to watch the Chicago Blackhawks continue their streak in a huge win over the Redwings. Then the boys went to work beating the Wheaton Vipers and the Hinsdale Inferno in the final championship game.

Every one of the boys made a contribution, once again.
"It's a great group of boys who play their hearts out each and every game," one parent said.
Parents also credited the coaches and all thanked them for their time with the boys, always giving them a fun time.
