Elmhurst Alderman Running For County Board
He said he wants to prove that officials can be good stewards of tax dollars.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst alderman is running as a Democrat for the DuPage County Board, citing his experience in city government.
Ward 6 Alderman Guido Nardini, who represents the city's southeast side, said he has answered constituents' calls about utility construction gone awry on parkways, dangerous intersections where kids cross, and building needs such as a new police station.
"There is still a notion out there that government is broken in this country," Nardini, who was elected to the City Council in 2023, said on Facebook this week. "The current unpredictability of our federal government alone shows these are challenging times. Challenge accepted. That's why I'm running – to prove that government can be efficient, that public servants can be good stewards of your tax dollars."

Running in the County Board's District 2, Nardini, a restaurant owner, said he would continue to ask questions and research issues. And he said he'll get back with those who call, text or email him.

"When it comes to spending your tax dollars, I'll continue to be one of the most prepared voices in the room," Nardini said.
In a statement to Patch, Nardini said he bristles when he reads stories about public corruption. He said he wants to prove that people can run for office for the right reasons.
He said his introduction to county government was through his council work. His neighbors told him about a homeless man in his ward.
Nardini said he asked Elmhurst police to talk with the man, and they did. But there's only so much they can do, he said.
"Being unhoused in the United States is tragic, but it is not illegal," the alderman said. "Doing my homework to see how I could help him, I discovered DuPage PADS, which coordinates people with temporary housing."
He said he also discovered the new Crisis Recovery Center, which provides around-the-clock services to children and adults.
"This is still a work in progress, but I found this all fascinating," Nardini said. "For someone who slipped through the cracks, DuPage County services are their safety net. They are the government of last resort."
He plans to run in the March 17 Democratic primary for the District 2 county seat. The winner goes on to the November 2026 general election. If Nardini wins, he would be seated on Dec. 1, about five months before the end of his council term.
"Until then, I am your engaged 6th Ward Alderman and at your service," Nardini said.
