Elmhurst Alderman: Seats in Wards 1, 4, 5 and 7 are Contested

Everything you need to know about the April 2013 races for alderman.

Seats are up for grabs in four of Elmhurst's seven wards in the April 2013 election, and three of those races include an incumbent candidate. The race for the 1st Ward, however, introduces the community to two newcomers.

In the 1st Ward, five-year Elmhurst resident Marti Deuter is going up against attorney and 20-year resident MaryNic Foster. The winner of this race will take the seat of Alderman Paula Pezza, who has decided not to run for re-election.

Fourth Ward incumbent Kevin York, who sits on the Finance, Council Affairs and Administrative Services Committee and has been on the council since 2009, is taking on 25-year resident Mike Baker, vice president of PSI Marketing Consultants.

In the 5th Ward, incumbent Chris Healy, who was elected in 2009 and sits on the city's Public Works and Buildings Committee, is running against Robert Kolb, a 25-year resident who is continuing his education and is self-employed.

And finally, 7th Ward incumbent Pat Wagner, who is in sales at Hewlett Packard Software and has served on the City Council since 2009, is hoping to retain his seat against Charles Mueller, who works in real estate and most recently ran for DuPage County Board District 2.
