ELMHURST, IL – Elmhurst School District 205 on Thursday answered a key question about its inquiry into credit card irregularities: Did the problem involve more than one person?

The district's response to Patch's question came from its spokeswoman Tonya Daniels: "No other employee has shown a pattern of personal spending on government (credit) cards."

That means the issue was limited to former district official Todd Schmidt, who used his credit card for nearly $50,000 in personal expenses. He reimbursed the district for the spending regularly. He also faces felony charges in an unrelated case.

On Tuesday, the school board's president released a statement about a third-party audit into credit card use. She said it was finished.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story stated that Patch had filed a public records request earlier this week for the recent credit card audit. Patch sent it to the wrong email address. It has re-sent it to the district.
