Shortly before noon Monday, Villa Park police were called about a retail theft at the Burlington store, 174 Roosevelt Road.

An officer saw the suspects' car, a red Nissan, pulling out of the parking lot onto Roosevelt Road, according to a news release from DuPage County prosecutors.

After an officer stopped the Nissan and approached the car on foot, McReynolds sped away, police said. She ignored stop signs, drove into oncoming traffic to avoid slower cars and reached speeds of more than 110 mph, police said.

The officer ended the pursuit out of safety concerns.

Oak Brook police and a Chicago police helicopter tracked the women to an alley in Chicago, where the women retrieved bags of merchandise from the car, according to the news release. They ran away, but were caught shortly after, police said.

They stole clothing valued at $1,472, police said.

"The allegations that Ms. McReynolds sped down Roosevelt Road, one of the busiest roads in the county, in the middle of the afternoon during the busy holiday shopping season at approximately 100 mph are outrageous," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in the news release.

McReynolds faces felony charges of burglary, retail theft, and aggravated fleeing and eluding an officer. She was ordered to stay in jail until her trial, prosecutors said.

The other women were charged with felony burglary and retail theft charges.
