Elmhurst D205 Leader May Get New Contract
The board is cramming in business before new members take office.

ELMHURST, IL – The Elmhurst school board plans to vote Tuesday on a new contract for Superintendent Keisha Campbell.
For the time being, the school board is keeping the proposed agreement secret from the public. Patch filed a public records request for it Monday.
Also on Tuesday, the Elmhurst School District 205 board is set to vote on hiring a new assistant superintendent of finance.

The person would replace Chris Whelton, who left amid a credit card controversy earlier this year. In February, Mohsin Dada was appointed to the job on an interim basis.
The board's decisions are set to be made in the first part of the board meeting. Afterward, the board plans to swear in two new members.

It's not unprecedented for the board to cram in big issues before new members take the oath of office.
In 2019, the board closed its doors to discuss its battles with the city of Elmhurst, with Campbell's predecessor calling the city "a jerk" and accusing it of "shenanigans." This was shortly before new members took office.
After a complaint from citizen watchdog Edgar Pal, the attorney general found the board violated the open meetings law. As a result, the recording was released.
As of last budget year, Campbell's salary was $250,000. Her salary was $225,000 when she started in 2021.
Her contract was last updated in March 2023, weeks before a board election in which two new members would be elected.
