Elmhurst Family Fall Fest Scheduled For Saturday

The free event at The Depot will offers all varieties of mazes, costumes, carnival games, and food trucks.

ELMHURST, IL — Pro tip: don’t eat too many cupcakes before you attempt the inflatable ogre maze - they will slow you down. You might also want to wear a costume that allows you to be as nimble as possible.

On Saturday, the annual Family Fall Fest will offer Elmhurst children a lot of great food, a lot of fun activities, and a chance to show off this year’s Halloween costume. In addition to the ogre maze, there is also an inflatable corn maze, a balloon artist, carnival games like Pumpkin Pitch, Conk the Crow, and Pumpkin Knock Down, an air brush artist, loads of photo booths, and Safety Town, a model town where children can learn tips on how to trick-or-treat safely.

Here is a map of events.

If children aren’t satisfied with their trick-or-treat candy, food trucks from Windy City Ice Cream, Mario’s Cart (Mexican food), Sugar Mama’s Mini Donuts, Da Pizza Dude, Serna’s Grill (hamburgers, gyros, and tacos), Dope Sandwich, and Smallcakes (cupcakes), should more than do the trick.

The free event will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at The Depot at Wild Meadows Trace. After a rainy week, Saturday is supposed to be a perfect fall day, but in the case of severe weather, check the Rainout Line. Check for updates at the Elmhurst Park District Facebook page.

The festival is sponsored by Kelly Stetler Real Estate, the Healthy Driven Families Initiative from Edwards-Elmhurst Health, and Advanced Orthodontic Specialists.

The EPD is offering families two chances to dress up in two days. On Friday, the “Fancy Family Friday” offers families the chance to put on their Sunday finest - or Friday finest, in this case - and decorate their table using materials from an activity box, while enjoying pizza from DiLeo’s Pizzeria in Elmhurst. Participating families are encouraged to share their dressup and decor by using the social media hashtag #EPDfancyfamilyfriday. Registration for this event has closed.
