Burglary Of Deceased Elmhurst Man's House Under Investigation: Cops

In another case, a man was charged with stealing from an estate sale in a local neighborhood, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a theft from a deceased man's house, an estate sale theft, unwanted messages, a hacking, soliciting without a permit, retail theft and DUI. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Theft from deceased son's house

  • A woman told police Friday that family members had removed various items from her deceased son's house in the 300 block of South West Avenue. Police are investigating it as a burglary.

  • A 62-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Saturday on a theft charge. The man committed the theft at an estate sale in the 300 block of East Parkside Avenue, police said. He was released.

Unwanted messages

  • A resident in the 400 block of South Spring Road told police Thursday that she had been receiving unwanted text messages from a suspect and his parents. An officer called the three and asked them to end all communications with the woman.
  • A resident in the 100 block of North Clinton Avenue told police Friday that the suspect had been sending threatening and inappropriate messages to her on social media.

  • Beams Technologies, 691 N. Church Road, told police Friday that someone hacked into the company's email system and sent fictitious invoicing emails.

Soliciting without a permit

  • A 27-year-old Chicago man was cited about 5:30 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of East Church Street on a charge of soliciting without a permit.

Retail theft, resisting officer

  • A 49-year-old Peru woman was arrested about 9 p.m. Friday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on charges of retail theft and resisting a police officer. She was also wanted on four warrants. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Retail theft

  • A 38-year-old Elgin man was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, on charges of retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail

Drunk person

  • While on patrol, an officer saw a drunk person who needed medical assistance about 1:30 a.m. Sunday at Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

DUI

  • A 53-year-old Wood Dale woman was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the 400 block of South Parkside Avenue on charges of DUI, endangering the life of a child, failure to give information to an owner after striking an unattended vehicle, improper backing and transportation of open alcohol. She was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 67-year-old Granger, Indiana, woman was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at Adams Street and Cambridge Avenue on charges of DUI and failure to signal when required. She was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 32-year-old St. Charles man was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Harvard and York streets on a DUI charge. Police said they were called about a reckless driver. The man was taken to the police station and then released.
