Elmhurst Fire Department Extinguishes Two House Fires in 24 Hours
One minor injury was reported.

Elmhurst firefighters and mutual aid companies were called to two, single-family house fires in 24 hours.
One fire took place around 5:17 p.m. Oct. 8 in the 300 block of South Hillside Avenue, according to the City of Elmhurst.
Firefighters found the source in a second-floor bathroom, where soldering pipes caused the fire. The house’s one occupant self-evacuated, and the blaze was quickly extinguished and the smoke was cleared.

One minor injury, hand burns, was treated by paramedics at the scene.
The other fire took place around 12:54 a.m. Oct. 9 in the 300 block of North Ridgeland Avenue.

A termal imaging camera was used to find the fire in the home’s basement, and the flames were quickly extinguished, according to the city. The fire was likely caused by an equipment failure of a fan in the house.
Heat and smoke damaged the basement, but no injures were reported from that fire.
