Elmhurst Fourth Of July Weather

ELMHURST, IL — If you're planning to be outside for the Fourth of July in Elmhurst, you need to be prepared for temperatures above 100 degrees. A heat advisory has been issued and is in effect from 12 to 7 p.m. Wednesday for most of Illinois including DuPage County.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures on the Fourth of July will be around 90 degrees, and peak afternoon heat indices will bring that up to near 105 degrees. The combination of heat and humidity will lead to hazardous conditions, particularly for the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions.

The National Weather Service advises to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Independence Day: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 100. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 76. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

THURSDAY: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Heat index values as high as 98. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming north northwest in the afternoon.

THURSDAY NIGHT: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. North wind 5 to 10 mph.
