Elmhurst Fugitive Bank Robber Kills Self: Reports
Police believed Christopher Stephen was armed and dangerous as he fled through the western suburbs following a Wednesday bank robbery.

Hillside, IL - Bank robbery fugitive Christopher Stephen killed himself in Hillside, reports ABC 7 Chicago, citing sources.
Stephen was the target of a manhunt Wednesday around Bellwood after he was identified as a suspect in the robbery of Inland Bank in Elmhurst.
Stephen, 44, was identified by the U.S. Marshals Service, which noted he was a parole violator.

Inland Bank, 539 S. Spring Road, was robbed at 10:30 a.m. May 25, according to the City of Elmhurst. A man handed a note to a bank teller and demanded money. He ran away eastbound toward Montrose.
Two Elmhurst schools implemented a soft lockdown as police searched the area, but the lockdown was lifted at 11:10 a.m., and the search there ended without an arrest.

Elmhurst police later found a vehicle near Butterfield and Mannheim roads they believed was involved in the robbery, and they interviewed a person of interest as helicopters buzzed Bellwood.
The FBI believes the Elmhurst bank robbery is connected to another Inland Bank robbery that took place May 23 in Lombard. The Lombard Inland Bank, located at 837 S. Westmore Ave., was robbed around 4:14 p.m., according to the FBI.
