Elmhurst Gym Owner On Track to Break Burpee World Records
Nick Janowitz had unofficially broken the 12-hour record Monday afternoon.
Elmhurst, IL - Elmhurst resident and business owner Nick Janowitz has unofficially broken the world record for the most burpees performed in 12 hours, and he's not done yet.
Janowitz did his first chest-to-ground burpee of the day around 1 a.m. May 2 at the gym he owns, Patriot Sports and Fitness, 645 South Route 83 in Elmhurst.
As of 1:10 p.m., Janowitz said he'd done 7,138 burpees, smashing the current 12-hour record of 6,800. He said he's on schedule to break the 24-hour record around 6:30 p.m.

Tracey Janowitz, Nick's wife, said Nick had also unofficially broken the one-minute burpee record by performing 50 burpees in 60 seconds. The results won't be official until the evidence is submitted to Guinness World Records for assessment.
"It's been so awesome here," Tracey said. "The members in the gym have been cheering him on. He's cramping up, but he's not stopping."

When asked how he was feeling, Nick said "I'm feeling like I did 7,000 burpees."
Patriot Sports and Fitness will host a party beginning at 5 p.m., with a DJ, raffles, games and prizes. The gym is also accepting donations for One for the Kids, which benefits children of the Chicagoland area.
