Police will actively search for unbuckled and drunken drivers through the New Year.

Elmhurst, IL - The Elmhurst Police Department has joined a national effort to crack down on seat belt violators and drunken drivers over the holiday season.
From Dec. 17 to Jan. 3, Elmhurst police will be out in force to conduct seat belt and impaired driving checks as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over effort, according to the City of Elmhurst.

- Even one drink can impair your judgment and increase the risk of getting arrested for driving drunk – or worse, the risk of having a crash.
- If you will be drinking, plan ahead; designate a sober driver before the party begins. Don’t drive.
- If you have been drinking, do not drive. Call a taxi, phone a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation.
The traffic enforcement campaign is coordinated with funds from the Illinois Department of Transportation Division of Traffic Safety.
