Elmhurst Man Disorderly At Business: Police
He confronts others aggressively, posing as an employee, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, attempted burglary, theft, damage, a threat, a fugitive driver and a scam. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Disorderly conduct
- A 52-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 200 block of North Oak Street was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday on a disorderly conduct charge. The incident occurred at Auto Glass Fitters, 297 W. Lake St. Police said two people were changing their car oil when the man confronted them aggressively, posing as an employee, police said. The man was released.

- A 58-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man, both of Berkeley, were arrested about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of South Arlington Avenue on charges of disorderly conduct involving public intoxication. Police were called to the street for a person who was believed to have fallen off a low-speed electric bicycle. They were released and taken back home.
Attempted burglary
- A 26-year-old Chicago man was arrested Friday on charges of attempted burglary without causing damage and criminal property damage. Police said they responded to a burglary alarm about 5 a.m. April 28 at CE Rentals, 441 W. Lake St. The owner arrived afterward and provided security footage. It showed the suspect's car, which was stolen in Chicago, police said. He was released.
Theft

- A 23-year-old man was arrested Monday on a theft charge. The incident occurred about 9:30 a.m. May 25 at Target Sortation Center, 615 W. Lake St. Police said the man, a delivery driver, stole packages that were intended to be delivered. He was released.
Damage
- A 31-year-old Bensenville man was arrested about 8 p.m. Tuesday at Grand and Industrial avenues on charges of obstructing identification and criminal property damage. He was also wanted on two DuPage County warrants. Police said the man picked up his bicycle and threw it at a woman's car, smashing her front windshield. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Burglary
- Kerry L. Jones, 53, of Bellwood, was arrested about 9 p.m. Tuesday at Jewel, 944 S. York St., on burglary and retail theft charges. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
Suspicious
- A man entered a home's garage and asked for directions about 11:30 a.m. Monday in the 300 block West North Avenue. Officers contacted the man's son, who said his father was lost.
Threat
- A woman told police another person threatened her during an argument Saturday in the 200 block of North Willow Road. An investigation is pending.
Fugitive driver
- An officer tried to stop the driver of a silver GMC Envoy about 10:30 p.m. Monday at York and Lake streets. The driver sped away, heading east on Interstate 290. Officers later found the car unoccupied.
Scam
- A resident on Maple Tree Court told police a suspect convinced him to transfer money to a cryptocurrency account, where he believed it was being invested for crypto trading. He discovered it was a scam and that an illegitimate agency was holding the money.
Domestic disturbances
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of North York Street. A person reported witnessing a fight. An officer contacted the suspect and the reported victim, both of whom said they had argued but did not get physical.
- Police responded to a domestic disturbance about 7 p.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of Eldridge Lane. A man told officers that he wanted them to remove his ex-girlfriend from his home after an argument. The man said she spat on him and slapped him. She denied it. No arrest was made because of conflicting statements and no visible injuries.
Unusual comments
- Gen Sims, an indoor golf course at 846 N. York St., told police that a person had made unusual comments and acted strangely about 4 p.m. Wednesday.
