Elmhurst Man Nabbed After Restaurant Dispute: Police

In other cases, cars were burglarized on an Elmhurst street, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a restaurant dispute, car burglaries, a missing passport, an at-large dog that bit someone, a concealed gun, domestic battery, DUIs and fugitive drivers. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Customer dispute

  • Police responded to a customer dispute about 7 a.m. Friday at Dunkin' Donuts, 506 W. North Ave. Officers found the person, a 54-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 300 block of North Walnut Street, and charged him with driving with a suspended license and failing to signal when required. He was released and issued a no-trespass notice for Dunkin' Donuts.

  • Someone entered several unlocked cars between 3 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Sunday on South Bryan Street. A further investigation is pending.

Missing passport

  • A resident in the 100 block of Highland Avenue told police Friday that she is applying for the status of "overseas citizen of India." To get it, the Indian government requires that she produce her Indian passport. She became a U.S. citizen in 1991 and has not needed her Indian passport since then. She has no record of her Indian passport number. Police referred to the case as "lost/mislaid property."

At-large dog

  • A 63-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 100 block of South Poplar Avenue was cited about 4 p.m. Friday at his home on a charge of having an at-large animal. Police said his dog bit someone on the right ankle. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Concealed gun

  • A man and a woman from Columbus, Ohio, both 24, were arrested about 11 p.m. Friday at Lake Street and Walnut Avenue on charges of being non-state residents failing to disclose a concealed gun. He was stopped for failing to signal. Police said the duo gave false information about their possession of a gun. They were released.

Domestic battery

  • A 24-year-old New Albany, Indiana, man was arrested about 10 p.m. Saturday at Clarion Inn, 933 S. Riverside Drive, on charges of domestic battery (two counts) and interfering with reporting of domestic violence. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Drunk people

  • A person was found drunk about 4:30 a.m. Monday at Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand Ave. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.
  • An officer was called about a drunk person about 3 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of East Butterfield Road. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Fugitive drivers

  • Elmhurst officers found a stolen Nissan Murano SUV wanted by Palatine police about 1 a.m. Thursday at Interstate 290 and North Avenue. The driver sped away after police attempted a stop.
  • About 12:30 a.m. Saturday at York Street and Crestview Avenue, officers tried to stop a Dodge Charger that was reported stolen in Elk Grove Village. The driver sped away.
  • Two people stole merchandise about 2 p.m. Sunday from Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. An officer found their car, a white Dodge Durango, and tried to stop them. They sped away, last seen heading south on Route 83, near Riverside Drive.

Retail theft

  • A person stole alcohol about 8 a.m. Thursday at Mariano's, 678 N. York St. An investigation is pending.
