Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade: What To Know If You Go
A Desert Storm and Gulf War veteran will be the first ever female Grand Marshal of the Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade.

ELMHURST, IL — The Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade will step off on Monday, May 27 from the corner of York and Third streets in the Elmhurst City Centre area at 9:30 a.m. It will be the 101st annual event to honor fallen heroes of the United States military. A spokeswoman for the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce & Industry told Patch that there are 90 entries in this year's parade. The chamber hosts the parade every year in conjunction with the city of Elmhurst.

The Route
The parade starts at the corner of York and Third streets (by Elmhurst City Hall). It then proceeds south on York Street to the bypass (Robert T. Palmer Drive) and returns to York, south to Church Street, west to Prospect Avenue and then to the Wilder Mansion in Wilder Park.

Grand Marshal
Elmhurst resident Lori Kristine Hess Tompos, a Desert Storm and Gulf War combat veteran while serving as a United States Army Captain in Air Defense Artillery is this year's parade Grand Marshal. She is the first female Grand Marshal in the history of the parade. Read more here via Elmhurst Chamber
Highlights
Six fire departments, nine cub scout packs, elected leaders and musical groups - including the York Community High School Marching Dukes, Elmhurst Middle School combined marching band and Timothy Christian High School band - will make up a part of the parade's 90 entries.

Ceremony
There will be a post-parade Military Ceremony at Wilder Park.
