Elmhurst Musician Fighting Insurer Raises A Lot
The resident said he needs lifesaving surgery. A local small business pledges a big donation.

ELMHURST, IL – An Elmhurst musician has raised tens of thousands of dollars since he went public with his insurance company's denial of his claim.
As of Friday, Nick Bisesi has pulled in $72,713, according to his GoFundMe page. That is two-thirds of the total that he said he needs for lifesaving surgery.

On the GoFundMe page, Bisesi said he received a call that a local small business owner pledged to match all donations over a week for a total of $10,000. He did not name the business.
So far, the two top donations are tied at $10,300. Coming in second is $10,000. They are anonymous.

Earlier this year, Bisesi said he was told that he had a bicuspid aortic valve. That means the heart valve has two flaps, instead of three.
The situation has resulted in an aortic aneurysm, which, if left untreated, could lead to a sudden and fatal rupture, he said.
His insurance claim was with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, which has declined to comment.
