Elmhurst Police Department Accepting Applications for New Officers
Applications must be submitted by Oct. 21.
The Elmhurst Police Department is now accepting applications for police officer candidates, the City of Elmhurst announced in a release Wednesday.
The officers of the Elmhurst Police Department embrace a community-oriented policing philosophy best summarized by their motto “Providing the Best,” the release states. The department is currently accepting applications to participate in its police officer eligibility process.
The hiring process will be rigorous, the department states, in order to select the best people for the job. Candidates will be required to successfully complete the entire process, which begins with a written exam and physical agility test.

Interested candidates can apply here. All applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. Oct. 21, and the written exam and candidate orientation will take place Nov. 19 at York High School in Elmhurst.
In order to apply, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

- Must be a citizen of the United States
- Must be at least 21 years of age and no older than 35 years old at the time of application (or otherwise exempt by statute)
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent high school education
- Have 45 semester hours of college credit (level 100 or above) from a regionally accredited college or university
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Have a valid Peace Officers Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) issued by the testing date. POWER test report cards are considered valid if issued within six months prior to the testing date (May 19-Nov. 19, 2016)
- Be able to pay the $35 nonrefundable application fee
