Elmhurst Police to Host Police Explorer Open House

The event will take place Oct. 12 at the Elmhurst Library.

The Elmhurst Police Department will host an open house for the Police Explorer program on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Elmhurst Library.

The Police Explorers is a youth program for males and females, age 14 to 21, who are interested in learning about careers in law enforcement and criminal justice.

The program provides young adults with an opportunity to learn about all aspects of law enforcement by working closely with their local law enforcement agency. Activities such as police Ride-Alongs, Explorer competitions, community service events, and criminal justice-related tours contribute both to the physical fitness and character development of members.

The Elmhurst Police Explorer program places a high emphasis on youth leadership and responsibility, instilling in members a level of confidence and professionalism that will benefit them in any future endeavors.
