Elmhurst Police Report Arrests for DUI, Drugs
Four DUI arrests reported as enhanced enforcement period begins.

Thanks to a grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation, Elmhurst police are again stepping up enforcement of DUI and seat belt laws. The campaign will continue through Sunday, Dec. 1.
DUI Arrests
Sean M. Cummings, 36, 1418 Surrey Road, Batavia, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after his black Mitsubishi Lancer allegedly hit a guard rail at County Line and Lake Street at 5:16 a.m. Nov. 17. He also was charged with driving without insurance, disobeying a stop sign and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was released on bond.

Peter Pereira, 27, 300 N. Larch, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without insurance after police pulled over his gold Honda Odyssey for disobeying a traffic control device at York and North at 12:08 a.m. Nov. 21. He was released on bond.
Ryan Earley, 24, 510 Gary Ave., Wheaton, was arrested and charged with DUI and possession of brass knuckles after police pulled over his beige Nissan Altima for speeding and driving without headlights at North Avenue and Route 83 at 1:07 a.m. Nov. 23. He was also charged with possession of a dangerous weapon. He was released on bond.

DUI-Drugs
Daren A. Wagner, 38, 8286 Ozaham Ave., Niles, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, driving without insurance and illegal transportation of alcohol after his white Ford Ranger was involved in an accident with a vehicle driven by a 61-year-old Elmhurst woman at York and Third streets at 6:10 p.m. Nov. 21. He was released on bond.
Possession of a Controlled Substance
Francis Derobertis, 19, 553 Armitage Ave., Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after police responded to a report of a suspicious silver Merceded-Benz at Van Auken and North End at 10:13 p.m. Nov. 21. He was taken to DuPage County Jail. Simon Santacruz, 20, 810 N. Van Auken, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis. He was released on bond.
