Elmhurst Police Search for Child-Luring Suspect

The driver of a white SUV reportedly told a boy to get in his car Oct. 18.

Police are looking for a driver who reportedly tried to lure an 11-year-old boy at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 18 near Fremont and Ridgeland in Elmhurst.

The man told the boy “Get in. Get in” four times, according to Elmhurst police, and the last two times he said it, he was more forceful and demanding.

The boy continued riding his bicycle and the man drove away east on Fremont.

The boy described the driver as a white or Hispanic man, in his late 20s to early 30s with short, dark buzzed hair and unkempt facial hair and a beard that went down to the middle of his throat, police reported.

He was wearing a white baseball hat with a flat brim. He was driving a car similar to a 1992-2000 Chevy Tahoe/GMC Yukon with rust on the back.

The boy told police he thought he heard the man mention the name Larry, but he wasn’t sure about the context.
