
The Elmhurst Fire Department was called at 7:31 p.m. Oct. 12 to a fire at the Elmhurst YMCA at 211 West First St.
The building was evacuated after YMCA staff noticed smoke in the men’s locker room, according to the City of Elmhurst.
Firefighters found smoke coming from the west side of the building, and they contained the fire to the men’s locker room.

No injuries were reported at the scene of the fire, which caused about $200,000 in damage, including smoke damage and water damage caused by fire suppression and a broken pipe.
Officials believe the fire started in the sauna of the men’s locker room, but the cause is still under investigation, according to the city.
