Fake Mail Carrier Tries Elmhurst Scam: Police
She was placed under arrest and taken to the police station.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving an imposter mail carrier, a masked man, an alarm for a domestic battery victim, aggravated battery, theft, trespassing and a fire. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Imposter mail carrier
- An imposter dressed as a mail carrier visited a house about 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of South Pick Avenue. The woman tried to pick up the resident's credit card. She was placed under arrest and taken to the police department. In a statement to Patch, Deputy Police Chief Brett Kaczorowski said the police department is investigating, with charges pending. "We have also coordinated with the United States Postal Service Inspectors for their follow-up. Once charges are finalized, we will send an updated bulletin release with the individual's name, charges, age and address," Kaczorowski said.
Masked man

- A resident in the 900 block of South Saylor Avenue told police that a masked man banged on her front door about 12:30 a.m. Saturday. An investigation is pending.
Alarm for domestic battery victim
- Police were alerted to an alarm that a domestic battery suspect had gotten near the victim about 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of West Lamont Road. She said the suspect had not contacted her. The man said he was in an Uber when the driver inadvertently entered the exclusion zone.
Aggravated battery

- A person battered two employees about 3 a.m. Thursday at Elmhurst Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill Road. Aggravated battery charges are pending.
Theft
- A man went into an open garage and stole a bicycle between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of North Walnut Street. An investigation is pending.
- A resident in the 1000 block of South Euclid Avenue told police Thursday that two diamond and gold rings were stolen in the last 2½ weeks from a dresser drawer in the bedroom. An investigation is pending.
- A resident in the 400 block of North Emroy Avenue told police Friday that someone stole her jewelry. An investigation is pending.
- Someone stole an electric bicycle between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday across the street from York High School in the 300 block of St. Charles Road.
Trespassing
- A man at Elmhurst University, 190 S. Prospect Ave., asked police Thursday to issue a no-trespass notice after he became involved in a dispute with a student. Officers plan to do so.
Fire hydrant damaged
- Nicor was repairing a gas leak about 3 p.m. Friday when its driver hit a fire hydrant in the 900 block of North Addison Avenue.
Fire
- Firefighters and police responded to an accidental kitchen fire about 7 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of West St. Charles Road.
Stolen motorcycle
- Officers found a stolen motorcycle about 10 a.m. Thursday at North Avenue and Route 83. A suspect was taken to the police station and then released pending further investigation.
