Elmhurst College opens its 2015-16 theater season with Godspell, the joyous retelling of the parables of Jesus from the Gospel of Matthew, featuring music and songs that have become classics.
Conceived in 1970 as a master’s degree thesis project by John-Michael Tebelak, Godspell opened Off-Broadway in 1971. The musical score launched the career of Stephen Schwartz, who went on to write hit musicals such as Wicked and Pippin.
