Gun 'Unintentionally' Fired into the Air After Argument with Girlfriend
Oak Brook police arrested a Maywood man Friday morning after responding to reports of shots fired.

Oak Brook, IL - Oak Brook police arrested a Maywood man Friday after a witness reported seeing him discharge a single round while standing outside his car near York and 31st Street.
Nicholas C. Purchase, 25 of the 200 block of S. 20th Avenue in Maywood, is charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, a Class 1 felony, and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, a Class 4 felony, according to Oak Brook police.
Police responded to the area around 9 a.m. Friday, and they stopped Purchase in Westchester. He had a silver semi-automatic .25 caliber pistol in his possession when he was arrested, police reported.

Purchase told police he unintentionally fired the gun into the air after he got into a verbal argument with his girlfriend. The witness also told police Purchase had the gun pointed into the air when he fired, and he did not point the gun in the direction of his girlfriend.
Purchase will be taken DuPage County Jail after his bond hearing, police reported.
