Homecoming! York Dukes Take on Oak Park-River Forest Huskies 7:30 Friday

So, tonight's kind of a big deal, no? 

Our York Dukes (2-2) are headed into Homecoming weekend ready to crush the Oak Park-River Forest Huskies at 7:30 p.m. Friday, at Clarence D. East Field in Elmhurst.

This West Suburban Conference game is not going to be easy, however; the Huskies are 4-0.

The Dukes cruised past Clark High (Chicago) 55-8 on Aug. 30, with more of the same against Proviso East, 55-22, Sept. 6, before losing their last two games in a row, against Hinsdale Central( (30-7) Sept. 13 and Willowbrook (28-13) Sept. 20.

OP-RF's undefeated season looks like this:

  • Aug. 31 vs Fenger, 55-8
  • Sept. 6 vs Leyden, 38-3
  • Sept. 13 vs. Proviso West, 29-6
  • Sept. 20 vs. Downers North, 16-10
The weather at game time should be perfect: clear and about 70 degrees. We figure everybody's going to be at this Homecoming rivalry game, but if by some chance you can't make it, be sure to watch it right here, courtesy of Game Cube.

Be Sure to Attend the York Alumni Mixer

The second annual York Alumni Mixer, sponsored by the York Distinguished Alumni Program, will be held before the game, at 5 p.m. Friday, at Doc Ryan's, 490 Spring Road. Pizza, silent auction and, best of all, a chance to see some old friends from your days at York.

IC Catholic Prep (3-1) plays at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at home against Marian Woodstock.
