The single most pressing issue facing our city is _____, and this is what I intend to do about it.
Maintaining city revenues to meet the rising costs of services is Elmhurst's main issue. Continued strategic economic development is the key to enhancing city finances and maintaining strong property values, which helps provide a quality education for our children.
What type of residential and commercial development would you like to see in Elmhurst?
I would like to continue to see a variety of housing types and pricing options within the city. Additionally, I believe in order for our industrial areas to continue to be successful, we need to modernize for today’s needs and standards.
How would you like to see downtown develop? Do you support more condos and apartments?
I support the continued residential downtown density which helps maintain our strong City Center. Continued strategic economic development is the key to enhancing city finances.
The city is facing a multimillion shortfall in stormwater debt for stormwater projects that have been completed. How should the city close it?
Due to my involvement with the Elmhurst Economic Development Commission, I know the city is discussing multiple ways it can help to close this shortfall. The review of city-owned property that could be sold for development and possible new bonding opportunities are being considered.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidate(s) seeking this post?
I have deep roots within this community, I am dedicated to continuing Elmhurst’s growth, and will bring energy to the position. I met my opponent at the “State of Our City Address” and we briefly spoke.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have experience with strategic planning and group leadership dynamics. I believe in listening to all points of view and being willing to compromise. Should I be elected, my experiences will allow me to be an effective and team-oriented Alderman.
If you win this position, what accomplishment would make your term in office a success?
I would consider my term in office a success if Elmhurst maintains its strong financial position, with a continued enhancement of city services, and investment in infrastructure.
Is there any reason you would not serve your full term of office, other than those of health or family?
I do not anticipate that being the case
The best advice ever shared with me was:
“It’s nice to be great, but it’s even greater to be nice” Joe Newton, York High School Cross Country Coach
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
My roots are deep within the Elmhurst community. I was raised and educated in Elmhurst, and my wife Annice and I have chosen to make this town our home. My civic and volunteer involvements demonstrate my dedication to this community. I plan to commit time and energy to keeping Elmhurst an economically robust, safe, and vibrant community.
