Letter: Former Elmhurst Alderman Supports MaryNic Foster in the 1st Ward

Michael Regan says MaryNic Foster has professional and interpersonal skills for the job, and will be a gatekeeper in the area of open and accountable government.

From 2001-2009, I was privileged to serve on the Elmhurst City Council as an alderman for the 1st Ward. I believe my eight years on the City Council affords me a unique insight into the qualifications needed to best serve the residents of the 1st Ward.

Based on my experience, MaryNic Foster is clearly the best candidate to serve as the next alderman from the 1st Ward. I have known MaryNic for over 10 years and highly respect her integrity and intelligence. MaryNic is a 20-year resident of Elmhurst who possesses the professional and interpersonal skills that will serve the 1st Ward and the city well.

Much has been made lately regarding issues of open and transparent government operations in Elmhurst. MaryNic is the executive director of the Cook County Department of Human Rights, Ethics and Women’s Issues.  She has served on and chaired the State of Illinois Executive Ethics Commission.  MaryNic’s expertise in government ethics will enable her to be a gatekeeper for the residents of the 1st Ward and the city of Elmhurst in the area of open, transparent and accountable government.

MaryNic is a former Illinois Assistant Attorney General. MaryNic has 24 years of experience as an attorney specializing in government ethics, government budgeting and in testifying before governmental bodies. Her professional experiences are directly transferable to alderman and will inure to the benefit of the 1st Ward. Her qualifications for 1st Ward Alderman are unsurpassed.

I encourage 1st Ward voters to cast their vote on Tuesday, April 9, for MaryNic Foster.
