Letter: Steve Morley is the Clear Choice for Elmhurst Mayor

A six-year record of accomplishment and commonsense approach make Morley the best choice.

On April 9 Elmhurst will pick a mayor to lead our city for the next four years. It is important that the new mayor be a person of high character with a vision for progress and, most importantly, a proven record of accomplishment and good government. Based on that criteria, the choice is clear—Steve Morley.

Though I have heard the candidates talk and point to issues facing our city, only Steve Morley has provided me with any proof of a record of actually accomplishing anything while serving on the City Council. In six short years as alderman, Steve Morley has successfully fought to reduce the 2010-11 budget in a manner that did NOT reduce city services or jeopardize safety. Additionally, he sponsored the electric aggregation program that has directly saved me and every other Elmhurst homeowner money. He has proposed commonsense budget policy and procurement reforms that provide better and more cost efficient means for the city to operate. While other candidates talk the talk, Steve Morley actually walks the walk and his record proves it.

To me the choice on April 9 is an easy one. I will be voting for the only candidate that has a proven record of accomplishment that coincides with my priorities. Please join me in supporting Steve Morley for mayor.
