Leyden’s Fine Arts Department presents A Pair of Christmas Carols on Friday, December 13 at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 14 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, December 15 at 3 p.m. in the auditorium at West Leyden High School, 1000 N. Wolf Rd., Northlake. The production includes students from both campuses.

A timeless Christmas story told in two different ways, the play’s first act is A Christmas Carol in HogPatch Holler, a family friendly musical adapted from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens with music and lyrics by Mark A. Pence. This lively show brings the Big Bad Wolf, Little Red Riding Hood, Henny Penny, Grandma, and the Three Little Pigs to life as they uncover the true meaning of Christmas and spread good will throughout the holler.

The second act is A Christmas Carol, the more traditional tale about the three ghostly spirits of Christmas that visit the stingy and irritable Ebenezer Scrooge on Christmas Eve. The trio takes Scrooge on an excursion that evokes past memories and also conjures glimpses of his future. After a harrowing journey, Scrooge sees the error of his ways and makes amends in time to celebrate a joyful Christmas morning with friends.
