Lombard Man Dies in Car and Bicycle Crash in Oak Brook

Statements indicate the bicyclist ran a red light.

A Lombard man was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash Nov. 8 in Oak Brook, after he was hit by a car while riding a bicycle.

Oak Brook Police and Fire Departments responded around 5:58 p.m. to the crash at Route 83 and 16th Street.

The Lombard man, who was in his 40s, was found on the roadway with traumatic injuries, according to Oak Brook police. The driver of the car, a Westmont man in his 50s, was not injured.

Statements from the driver and from witnesses indicated the bicyclist ran a red light as he entered the intersection, police reported.

The driver was taken to the police department, where he gave a statement, and he was released. The Felony Investigative Assistance Team also responded to the scene to help the Oak Brook Police Department and to conduct the crash reconstruction and investigation.
