Lost Dog Returned Home, Made Honorary Police K9

Officers were so impressed with the small dog that they honored him in a special way.

ELMHURST, IL — A lost dog found by police was recently given a special honor by officers. According to Elmhurst Police Department, a dog was found near West Avenue and Belden on Thursday. However, the dog was wearing ID tags and was able to be reunited with his family a short time later.

Officers were so impressed with the small dog that they honored him in a special way.

"We made the little guy an Honorary Police K-9 for his good behavior and all around disposition," the department wrote in a post on Facebook.
