Man Sentenced For Addison Attempted Murder

He'll be near Social Security age when he can be released at the earliest.

ADDISON, IL – A Chicago man has been sentenced to 42 years in prison in connection with shooting two people nearly three years ago in Addison, authorities said.

On Wednesday, Damian Gonzales, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of attempted murder and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm, according to a news release from DuPage County prosecutors.

During an afternoon in February 2023, Gonzales shot two people in the front seat of a Jeep SUV, police said. It occurred in the 500 block of South Wisconsin Avenue.

One person was hit 11 times, the other two times, prosecutors said.

Officers immediately rendered first aid to the victims, who were taken to the hospital and have since recovered, police said.

Gonzales was arrested later that day.

He is required to serve 85 percent of his sentence before being eligible for parole, with credit for time served. That means he has 33 years to go at least – or when he is 60.
