McDonald's Theft, Weapon: Elmhurst Cops

A man's wallet was stolen when he left it on the counter after ordering food, police said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a wallet theft, brass knuckles, jewelry theft, a woman who was confused, car burglary and a noise violation. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:

Wallet theft

  • A man told police that he left his wallet on the counter after ordering food when two men took it about 5:30 p.m. Thursday at McDonald's, 920 N. York St. The first man was described as black, having an average build and a black beard, and wearing a Major League Baseball hat, a gray hoodie with a "New York" logo, gray sweatpants and black shoes. The other man was described as black, heavy, having a gray and black goatee, and wearing a camouflage trucker hat, a black shirt and pants, and gray shoes. An investigation is pending.

  • A 24-year-old Schaumburg man was arrested about 4 a.m. Saturday at Route 83 and St. Charles Road on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, marijuana possession in a car, improper lane usage and driving an uninsured car. Police said the man had brass knuckles. He was released.

Domestic disturbance

  • Police were called about a domestic disturbance about 2 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of South Linden Avenue. A man told police someone else grabbed him by his jacket. Officers made no arrests because of conflicting statements and no visible injuries. Both people agreed to separate.

Jewelry theft

  • Someone stole a bag containing jewelry between 11 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday in a room at Courtyard by Marriott, 370 N. Route 83. An investigation is pending.

Woman confused

  • A resident in the 100 block of West Butterfield Road told police about 11:30 p.m. Sunday that an elderly woman he did not know was in his apartment and seemed confused. She was taken to Elmhurst Hospital.

Car burglary

  • A woman told police that items were stolen from her car about 10:30 p.m. Saturday while she was shopping at Jewel, 944 S. York St. Police did not say whether the car was locked. An investigation is pending.

Retail theft

  • A 37-year-old woman and a 53-year-old woman, both of Addison, were arrested about 3 p.m. Thursday on retail theft charges. The incident occurred at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The 53-year-old was released. The 37-year-old, who was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Noise violation

  • A 46-year-old Elmhurst resident who lives in the 700 block of South Stratford Avenue was cited with a noise violation. Police said the man was playing loud music.

Harassment

  • A resident in the 100 block of East North Avenue told police Friday that she received several text messages from a man and that he later showed up at her home. She considered the man's actions harassment. An officer told the man not to contact the woman or return to her home.

Found bicycle

  • A blue and black Trek bicycle was found about 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of Grace Avenue. It was placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Porch piracy

  • A resident on Atrium Way told police Sunday that a package at his house was stolen.

DUI

  • A 26-year-old man was arrested about 11:30 p.m. Thursday at Ridgeland and North avenues on charges of DUI, improper lighting and improper lane usage. He was taken to the police station and then arrested.
  • A 55-year-old Hampshire man was arrested shortly before midnight Thursday at St. Charles Road and Arlington Avenue on charges of DUI, parking on the roadway, attempted obstruction of justice and driving an uninsured car. He was taken to the police station and then released.
  • A 27-year-old Schaumburg man was arrested about 2 a.m. Sunday at North and Maple avenues on charges of DUI, improper lane usage, no valid driver's license and illegal possession of alcohol by a driver. He was taken to the police station and then released.
