Mosquito Spraying Will Take Place in Elmhurst Tuesday Evening

Weather permitting, Clark Environmental Mosquito Management, which is under contract with the City of Elmhurst, is scheduled to spray residential streets in Elmhurst on Tuesday evening, July 16.
Clarke will be using truck-mounted "ultra-low volume" foggers for the treatment to kill adult mosquitos, according to the city's website. Clarke sprays multiple times throughout the summer months.

The city is directing all questions about the treatment to the Clarke Environmental Mosquito Management hotline, (800) 942-2555. Anyone wishing to sign up for notifications of mosquito spraying can do so by calling the hotline.
Spraying is necessary to combat West Nile virus. The virus has been found in mosquitoes in DuPage County, but so far no human cases have been reported in Illinois, according to the CDC. As of July 9, human cases have been reported in California, Colorado, Mississippi, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee and Texas.

Last year, the CDC reported 56 people contracted the virus in DuPage County, a huge increase over 2011, when only two human cases were reported.
