Neighborhood Dog Charges, Bites Elmhurst Homeowner: Police
This is the second vicious dog bite reported in the western suburbs in the past week.
An Elmhurst resident reported a dog bite incident to police last week when a neighborhood canine charged onto her front porch and clamped down on her hand.
Thirty-year-old Christopher Stanley, also an Elmhurst resident and the owner of the dog, was cited Jan. 19 for having a dog at large and not having the appropriate city tags for his pet. Stanley lives in the 400 block of West St. Charles Road.
The victim, who lives in the 300 block of Rex Boulevard, said she saw the dog exit its backyard through an open gate around 10 a.m. that morning. When she told the dog to “go home,” she said, it charged onto her front porch and bit her on her left hand.

When police arrived, the woman refused help from medics.
In another west suburban incident last week, a Western Springs village employee was reading a water meter in a resident's backyard when the homeowner unknowingly let out her collie/terrier mix. The dog bit the meter reader on the thigh hard enough to require hospitalization and two stitches, according to police reports.
