Pepper-Spray Attack At Elmhurst Gas Station: Cops
Five people came into the station and stole several items, authorities said.

ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a pepper-spray attack, a battery, a furniture mix-up, retail theft, trespassing and a counterfeit item. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Pepper-spray attack
- About 11 p.m. Monday, five people came into the Mobil gas station at 1000 N. York St., stole several items and pepper-sprayed an employee. An investigation is pending. The incident was reported two days later.

- A 63-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in an apartment complex in the 200 block of South West Avenue was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Monday on a battery charge. Police said he bumped into someone at the complex and then argued with the person. He was released.
Furniture mix-up
- Mangia Napoli pizzeria, 940 N. York St., left furniture outside Tuesday afternoon and reported it stolen. It was determined that the suspect thought the items were trash. The suspect agreed to return the furniture.
Retail theft

- A 34-year-old man and a 25-year-old man, both from Chicago, were arrested Saturday on charges of retail theft. The men were released. Police said the incident was about 8:30 p.m. Oct. 8 at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83.
Trespassing
- A 37-year-old Elmhurst man who lives in the 10 block of Willow Tree Court was arrested about 7 p.m. Monday at Jewel, 944 S. York St., on a trespassing charge. Police said they were called about a suspicious person. He was released.
Suspicious
- Police were called about a suspicious man about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at 189 E. Butterfield Road. The man was given a no-trespass notice.
Theft
- A woman told police that someone stole her grandson's and parent's bronze urns between Feb. 2 and Feb. 11 at Mount Emblem Cemetery, 520 E. Grand Ave. An investigation is pending.
Counterfeit
- Someone sold a counterfeit Rolex about noon Feb. 8 to Cottage Hill Diamonds, 125 N. York St. A further investigation is pending. The theft was reported 11 days later.
Car burglary
- Someone entered an unlocked car and stole $10 and a small wallet containing Jewel and Mariano's cards between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday at Courtyard Marriott hotel, 370 N. Route 83.
DUI
- A 26-year-old Lombard man was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grand Avenue and Church Street on charges of DUI, speeding, transportation of open alcohol by a driver, driving an uninsured car and improperly using lanes. He was released.
