Photographer At Elmhurst School Sparks Suspicion
In another case, an unconscious person at an Elmhurst restaurant later died, police said.
ELMHURST, IL – In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a photographer at a school, an unconscious person at a restaurant, theft, fraud, DUI and harassment. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports:
Suspicious
- A woman told police she saw a person jump the fence about 7 p.m. Thursday at Hawthorne Elementary School, 145 W. Arthur St. The person entered the property and took photos of the school's exterior. Police could not find the person, who was later identified as a professional photographer.

- Police responded about 9:30 p.m. Friday to Angelo's Ristorante, 247 N. York St., for an unconscious man. The person was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Theft
- A man was seen on video entering Okaz Motors, 594 W. Lake St., about 6:30 a.m. Thursday. He then stole four hubcaps and left in a red sedan. An investigation is pending.
Fraud

- Industry-Railway Suppliers, 577 W. Lamont Road, told police Thursday that suspects had fraudulently applied for a loan with the business in an attempt to obtain many tools. The loan was approved, and several tools were shipped to a Georgia business.
DUI
- A 23-year-old Harwood Heights man was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at Lake Street and West Avenue on charges of DUI, marijuana possession by a driver and disobeying a traffic signal. He was taken to the police station and then released.
Retail theft
- Three people stole merchandise about 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. The theft was reported two days later. An investigation is pending.
Harassment
- Extra Space Storage, 160 W. Industrial Drive, told police Friday that a former employee had been harassing the business with text messages to the company phone. The person was also accused of making fraudulent Craigslist posts. A further investigation is pending.
Outside assistance
- Elmhurst officers helped Berkeley police catch the driver of a white Honda Accord who fled from a traffic stop about 7 p.m. Saturday on Berkeley's Electric Avenue, which turns into Vallette Street in Elmhurst. The suspect was released to Berkeley police.
