Possible White Pines Sale May Be No More
The park district plans a special meeting Wednesday to consider ending all efforts to sell nearly half of the White Pines Golf Course.

BENSENVILLE, IL — Bensenville Park District may give up its effort to sell part of the White Pines Golf Club.
The club is a few blocks north of Elmhurst's city limit.
The park district plans to hold a special meeting on Wednesday to vote on a few items relating to White Pines, according to the meeting’s agenda. These items include:

- Ending all efforts to sell any part of the club’s property.
- Stopping the park staff from preparing an advisory referendum on the sale of White Pines property.
- Preparing a $20 million bond referendum for building and equipping a clubhouse at White Pines to voters for the November general election.
Last month, the park district approved an advisory referendum on the sale and was about to sign off on the wording of the referendum question.
For months, opponents of the sale organized a “Save White Pines” campaign. They voiced their objections to the sale at the most recent park district meeting. Afterward, they held a community meeting where residents had the opportunity to sign a petition urging the park district to hold a binding referendum

The park district’s special meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. in the Deer Grove Leisure Center, 1000 W. Wood Ave.
