Roberta Ann Valentino, 1943-2025

Her greatest fulfillment came from her role as a mother, a dream she had cherished since childhood.

ELMHURST, IL – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roberta Ann Valentino, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world and entered into the presence of her savior Jesus Christ on June 5, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on December 11, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, Roberta's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and compassion that touched all who knew her.

Roberta was the beloved daughter and only child of Godfried and Sarah Johnson. She grew up in a household that fostered kindness and warmth. Her parents briefly lived in California Then settled in Elmhurst, IL at the age of 12 in her current home. From a young age, she exhibited an extraordinary passion for life and learning, showing remarkable promise in her studies. A bright student, Roberta was double promoted in grade school with honors, allowing her to graduate early from York High school before returning to college as an adult to pursue a career in book keeping/accounting and office management. However, her greatest fulfillment came from her role as a mother, a dream she had cherished since childhood. Her heart always belonged to her family.

As a stay-at-home mom, Roberta dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family. She was a loving and wonderful mother, always there to support her children and provide guidance and support. Later in life she also spent much time watching her grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate family; she took many people under her wing as a parent or grandparent, never hesitating to offer her love and care. Her heart was always open to those in need. Roberta's unwavering loyalty as a friend made her a cherished confidante to many, and she had a unique ability to connect with others, never meeting a stranger.

Roberta’s interests and hobbies reflected her vibrant personality. She had a profound love for all animals, rescuing and caring for many pets. An avid reader, she could often be found with a book in hand, never losing her place even when she was just “resting” her eyes. Additionally, her creative side could be seen through drawing and crochet, arts that brought her joy and allowed her to share her talents with her loved ones. She recently made scarves for her family and friends and took much joy in gifting them and seeing people enjoy her handiwork.

Roberta is survived by her husband Shailer Pullen cherished children:, Sue Valentino Polito, (John Polito), Maria Valentino, She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren;, April Valentino, Salvatore Antonelli, Alexa Polito and Jacob Polito, along with eight treasured great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy.

A memorial service celebrating Roberta's life will be held on July 26, 2025, from 1:00-4pm for fellowship, memorial service from 3-3:30pm at Calvary Chapel Elk Grove, located at 975 E. Nerge Rd., Roselle. Family and friends are invited to gather and share their memories of this remarkable woman whose spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
